As a researcher, educator, and sustainable development practitioner, I am interested in exploring how design strategies practiced side by side with social sciences can serve as a tool for re-imagining community development. Exploring solutions to complex community issues as a designer as well as a development professional has opened up new spaces of creativity and innovation, tackling problems with an open-ended approach rather than with prescribed development goals in mind.

Developing methodologies to work with communities (students, colleagues, marginalized populations in emerging economies), rather than in communities, to design collaborative solutions, under the premise that there is not a single expert but different knowledges that complement each other and can be exchanged, has been the focus of my research and practice.
